The Best Time to Travel to Palawan Island

Pretty much stay away from Palawan island in the wet season unless you like sitting around and watching the rain. The island can be difficult to get around as flooding is quite common. From November onwards the tourist season starts to kicks into gear.

November is a lovely time of the year to go with the flowers and the jungles starting bloom. There will still  be some rain, but it is intermittent and is only a minor inconvenience.

Once you get into the Christmas and New year season the rain dries up and the temperature becomes milder. Most of the resorts are booked out around this time of the year for obvious reasons. Its best to book well ahead if you plan to go at this time of the year.

The best time to visit Palawan island is in the mid to late dry season (the summer months) from March to June. The temperature is milder even with cooler nights and not a cloud in the sky. Do not plan to travel past June as the wet season can start one in June day and last for 6 months.

What to Wear

If you plan to travel in the shoulder season in November or June, bring some light wet weather clothing for those one hour downpours. Any other time shorts, swimwear, t-shirts and singlets will do. If you come from a warmer climate then you may want to bring a jumper as it can get cool in the nights over summer.

The most important things you need to bring are insect repellant for the mosquitoes especially around the wetter months. And of course always bring the sun screen.
